Italy is among the most admired gastronomic tourism destinations and visitors are attracted by the Italian delicacies and are traveling to Italy simply for the food. Those who own Italy property have a chance to taste new ice cream flavors such as Neapolitan, named after Naples, linking the tasty treat with the country.
However, at the end of May a special celebration of ice cream - or gelato, in Italian - is due to take place in Florence Gelato, often seen in the streets of Florence, is the Italian Ice-cream which is dense, flavorful with an amazing texture. Some of Florence’s visitors most memorable and fun moments are walking around the city with some Gelato in hand. The Firenze Gelato Festival runs from Friday May 28th to Monday May 31st, with many of the Tuscan capital's famous squares hosting ice cream workshops, tasting sessions, children's activities and exhibits.
The Italian Government Tourist Board explains that Florence resident Bernardo Buontalenti is credited to have invented ice cream in the 16th century, before exporting it across the continent. An exhibition in Piazza Santissima Annunziata is due to be held in his honor. The tourism organization stated that the festival will be enriched by a cycle of meetings and workshops on ice cream.
According to the organizers, up to 300,000 people are expected to head to property in Italy ice cream capital to attend this year's Firenze Gelato Festival. Although most non-Italians are familiar with the country's famous culinary exports, such as pizza and pasta, many people may not realize the popularity of gelato among native people.
